Pomona’s GRE1 Receives EMA Orphan Drug Designation for PML
Pomona is pleased to announce that GRE1, an investigational therapeutic candidate for Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare and life-threatening neurological disease caused by the reactivation of the JC virus (JCV), has received Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) from the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
This designation represents an important milestone in the development of GRE1 and highlights the urgent need for innovative therapeutic approaches to address the significant unmet medical need associated with JCV-associated PML.
Building on this achievement, Pomona aims to advance GRE1 towards the next stages of development. Strategic collaborations and partnerships will play a key role in translating this regulatory milestone into further clinical progress, bringing together the expertise, resources, and capabilities needed to support the development of innovative therapeutic options for patients affected by PML.
Pomona welcomes opportunities to engage with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology partners, and research organizations interested in collaborating on the further development of GRE1 and its potential to address this serious and currently underserved disease.
